The more classes I take about medicine, the more I realize how I am just being trained for war. As fast as we can treat, microorganisms evolve and become even more complicated opponents. We design these weapons against them vaccines, antibacterials, our own immune system comes armed with as many granules as it can pack in is membrane wall. And yet mutli drug resistant strains evolve with new ways to infect. Two steps back for every one step forward. We really are in a war of many battles against the microorganism world. Its true- a battle of the species, nay genus, nay kingdoms- Eukaryote vs bacteria.
Fabulous lab medicine and physiology lectures today. 8 am, Dr Sailer walks in dressed in his nice white polo.... that he tie dyed! He also said something quite spectacular, that though resonates with me I cant seem to recall. And Lab med- who knew urine samples could reveal yeasts "so beautiful you want to make wall paper out of them and plaster your house in it"
In a battle of my own. and loosing. Reached out for an allie. And still I am consumed by my own demons. cryptic and disgusting. I know. I know. I know better. I just wish it wouldn't hurt. Tired of it.
